Via Fundrace, we learn that Marvin Lender donated $2000 to George Bush's campaign...

At today's Akh Shav B'New Haven, Lender said that he was "undecided." Unless this is a different Marvin Lender, or He's so rich that $2000- doesn't mean anything decisive, it looks like his mind is made up to me.

I was dissapointed with the event, through no fault at all of Erin Scharff, who organized and moderated the dinner. I wanted to have a serious conversation with Lender about Jewishness and social change in New Haven, and yes, i wanted to talk about Yale New Haven Hospital. When Lender refused to answer our questions about medical debt and the contract struggle and organizing drive, he did so in a way i found extremely cynical and disrespectful. My time would perhaps have been better spent working on my senior essay instead of listening to Lender self aggrandize and snarl at us, and i'm dissappointed that he was unwilling to enter into an honest, productive dialogue. Here's one of the many reasons why Mr. Lender has a responsibility to ensure that the Hospital whose board he chairs honors its commitment to the New Haven Community.

Thanks to seditious libel for the link.
