Kohle's argument that DP should trump Gay marriage actions like those in San Francisco or New Paltz is deeply problematic. I don't care if it's part of the Bush 2004 strategy to make gay marriage a divisive issue or whatever other crap you wanna throw out there: this is not only a civil rights issue but a human rights issue. It's about how we define peoplehood. Kerry and Edwards both suck on this issue. In no way am i arguing against the New Haven DP fight. Indeed, i am a strong supporter of Healey's bill. But it doesn't, and shouldn't trump efforts to fight heterosexist definitions of love and familiality.  ¶ 4:20 PM
