Yesterday, poring over the Yale Daily News from 1967, looking for information on the new haven riots and the face of yale's workforce and relationship with the city in which they lived (i.e., teaching cops spanish so as to better police the skyrocketing puerto rican community in Fair Haven and the Hill,) i found a curious story. It seems that certain fraternities were in the habit of branding recruits. Yeah, like, pressing hot material against their flesh so it leaves a permanent mark kind of branding. The administration, of course, rather than taking any disciplinary action, said that it trusted the interfraternity council to halt this practice on it's own. Meanwhile on former president of DKE and current president of this festering shithole of a country, 1968, called the burns "insignificant, like a cigarette burn," and testified that they didn't hurt that much. Now we know where he got his policies on environmental and labor law violations from.  ¶ 11:49 AM
