$70,000 would save two local 34 jobs from the arbitrary layoffs which Susan Hockfield and John Pepper are using as a misplaced anti-union strategy - (so much for new cooperation, i guess.) Instead, it's being used by the YCC (see below for an explanation of my continuing enmity towards that farcical excuse of a representative body) to hire perhaps the worst band since, well, Guster. Last year's Wilco performance being the exception, Spring Fling generally reslts in horrible music at a ridiculous cost. Ben Harper sucks. Guster suck. Wyclef hasn't made any good music since Carnival, and that's only cause L-Boogie was involved. For this they spend ridiculous amounts of cash, while the university (fallaciously) claims dire financial conditions. It's kind of sickening. No, scratch that, it's just plain fucked up. I need something else to get me through this bourgeois fantasy of "meritocratic" racial difference.
