Updates on the california/missouri/kentucky/ohio/West Virginia supermarket and the cali transit strike:
USA Today reports from Missouri about the health care issue.

Bob Finley, a Schnucks cashier on the picket line, fretted about stalled contract talks. ''We don't want to be out,'' said Finley, a 30-year employee.

Finley said that his job, and insurance, were considerable resources when his 20-year-old son, Mark, an All-American swimmer at the University of Missouri-Rolla, was diagnosed with cancer three years ago. After a year of chemotherapy, surgery and doctors, Mark died. Without health insurance, the ordeal would have ruined the family financially, Finley said.

An article in the UCLA Daily Bruin looks at how the strike is affecting one woman's life.

The AP reports that the transport workers' union and the MTA are going back to the table to try to reach a settlement. Let's hope they can.
