Rumpus used to be really funny. No more. Sharp jabs at YD"N" elitism have been replaced by that dope "cavalcade of assholes" cartoon in the herald, and now rumpus is a site of anti-union, arrogant, elitist, CRAP. In addition to three or four pages of antiunion propaganda, this issue also manages to accuse me of being a klansman, because I argued that what Yale teaches, and how Yale manages has been and remains inflected with racialized understandings of difference, privilege, and work. I'm frustrated that a column i used to love reading in a paper I used to think filled a valuable niche at this university has somehow become another Yale Free Press - a site at which overprivileged neoconservatives can get their jollies by ridiculing the struggles of those in whose oppression they actively work to become complicit in.
